We've got some big improvements coming and are asking for your written support!

Here's the story:

Thanks to the community's demands for our cloud, Internet and advanced broadband services, MontanaSky is building affordable middle mile fiber-optic high capacity transport facilities, and acquiring end user "last mile" facilities to serve our friends and neighbors in Libby and Troy.

MontanaSky has partnered with Kalispell Regional Hospital through the Healthcare Information Exchange of Montana (HIEM) to bring a much needed fiber-optic line from Kalispell to Libby, and we are working to deploy the first fiber service to West Glacier.

We have also partnered with Montana West LLC and Ronan Telephone to carry HIEM's network to hospitals, health care providers and doctors' offices from Libby through Kalispell, the Mission Valley and Missoula. This line is now in service with new fiber being installed as we speak.

We are acquiring and deploying the technologies to bring new high speed data service to homes, government, and businesses along these routes using LTE, Wimax, fiber to the home, and cable distribution.

We will finally be able to bring affordable Internet transport to the region by owning the infrastructure ourselves. We will say "good-bye" to the exorbitant bills we have been paying to the traditional phone companies for this service, and pass the savings on to the community!

We have applied to our local banks for help with funding, but they ALL have turned us down, mainly because they don't understand the telecommunications industry and are wary of collateral in the form of high tech fiber and broadband equipment.

Consequently, we have applied to the US Department of Agriculture's Rural Utility Service for loans and grants totaling about four million dollars. They have a fund already established and capable of funding up to $300 million. We are asking for help with $4 million.

With that, we are asking you to send letters of support, "Like" our Facebook Fan page, and make comments in support of the need to improve the under-served portions of the wide open spaces between Missoula and Troy and to West Glacier.

We have a "stock" template ready for you to copy and paste onto your own letterhead below. Please change the date and edit the body to your liking, and edit your name and address at the closing.

We need your letter by July 25th, 2011 so we can include it in our UDSA-RUS applications.

Your letter of support will help show the USDA-RUS folks that our area is serious about getting our rural communities' broadband needs brought into the 21st Century so we can attract the economic and social building blocks that make our communities survive and thrive in these tough times we living in.
